Our software engineering M.S. program blend engineering, computing, project leadership and software construction. Students engineer software solutions in application areas such as Web applications, mobile systems, embedded systems, or graphics and game development.

The M.S. in software engineering degree program focuses on developing advanced knowledge and abilities in the design and application of software. Students will learn to apply engineering principles to software development, including design methodologies, operation principles and maintenance and testing approaches. Career Opportunities Software engineers solve a broad set of interdisciplinary problems and apply new technologies to improve the quality of life. Graduates design and engineer innovative systems that may include mechanical and electrical components that interact with software. The master’s degree in software engineering is a unique program in which students learn by solving engaging projects, commonly as a member of a development team. The program prepares graduates for advanced study in computing, an allied field, or to enter the computing profession (most commonly as an application software engineer). According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, software engineers are highly paid, and there is significant growth in the number of employment opportunities.

Fellowships
Fellowships through ASU and external resources, along with research and teaching assistant positions, offer many alternatives to fund your education expenses at ASU—often for multiple years or even the full course of study. Fellowship resources are limited, and many fellowships require U.S. citizenship or the right to work in the United States.
